Going From a Very Successful Life to a Dark Health and Life Crisis EP 171 The 5 Dimensions of Health

It started when I started having back pain while sitting in my office chair. The next morning I couldn’t get up and I couldn’t walk.

I spent 4 weeks in the hospital and I refused surgery wisely and went into a rehab program instead. It got a little better and then I started working again. That time I gave up. My husband wasn’t well and was struggling with his mental health and I went into a depression. My husband ended up committing suicide and I was left with 2 teenage sons, myself in pain in chronic pain and depressed.

We ended up moving to Canada which was the best decision of my life, although hard at the time. I was alone and didn’t know anybody and I didn’t know what to do with myself. During this time tried committing suicide myself and I nearly did but a little voice woke up and told me that I needed help.

The hardest thing I have ever done was ask for help and accept it. In that, I learned a lot about myself and about my fellow citizens. It taught me humility, understanding, empathy and that we are all the same.

I continued to try the conventional system to get my back better and took medication for my depression, though I was not really living. So many of my clients experience the same. They are just vegetating.

The Turning Point

At some point I made a decision and said to myself, “This is not the life I want to live for the rest of my life.” That’s the main thing. You have to make a decision for change.

Once that decision was made, my mind started to kick in, I started to research and slowly discontinued the medications and replaced them with a healthy lifestyle supplementation.

I started over.

Starting Work in Canada

The big question was, “What can I do here in Canada? I’m not licensed in anything.” I had a medical background that I would’ve loved to use so I decided to take a health coaching program but that didn’t work and I went bankrupt because I didn’t know how to do a business in Canada.

I decided to study marketing and business and now my business is growing, I’m growing and I’m living my purpose in helping others.

While talking to many business owners and professionals I discovered that it’s not enough to just try this supplement, go to the doctor, try a medication, try this food that you read about in the media. You have to have a strategy and a plan.

It was through that I had a big epiphany that mental health is really the brain and I began to research neuroscience and I discovered the 5 dimensions that we need to address for all health issues.

What Caused the Turning Point

I had no purpose, no passion and was in pain all the time and didn’t know what to do.

At some point I made the decision and said, “What do I want with the rest of my life? What do I really want? Do I want to watch TV all day and just go downhill and end up in a nursing home? No. That’s not for me.”

I wanted to leave a legacy, to make a difference and I wanted to show the future generations that aging does not mean that you have to go downhill and end up demented and sick. But if you do the right things at the right time, you can reduce your risks to get all those nasty things that we don’t want…Just dreaming doesn’t do it. You have to stop dreaming and start acting. The 5 Dimensions of the Brain & Mental Health

I discovered that there’s 5 dimensions to mental health.

  • Physical Health

The first dimension is physical health. The organs, mechanical parts, biochemistry, physics, anatomy, psychology, etc. Taking care of the physical body benefits every other dimension.

  • Mental Health

Have you thought about what mental health really means? We know it’s a part of how we feel. Traditionally we think positive affirmations will help us but it is so much more than what we think is going on in our mind. It’s really about brain health. The physical functioning of your brain and body influences your mood, your mental health, and way more than you think.

  • Spirituality

There’s a spiritual dimension and I don’t mean religion or anything woo woo. For me, spiritually is exploring the deepest sense of your purpose, passion and your goals. Why are you here in this world?

  • Social Health

The fourth dimension is social health because we are social beings. We live through relationships. We have multiple relationships with ourselves, with family, friends, and the community.

If all you do is worry about what others think of you, it hinders you from joy so working on your relationship with people is very important.

  • Financial Health

The last dimension is financial health. In our modern world we are no longer growing or making everything that we need to live. We are depending on a modern system to buy necessary resources. If you don’t have a steady source of income, you can’t feel secure and will be afraid to go hungry. If you don’t have a source of money you don’t have the ability to be healthy in our modern world.

Money isn’t bad. It’s necessary.

Why Mental Health is So Important

The brain regulates everything we do. If our brain is not functioning well on a complete level, we are not successful in life, whatever success means to you. Whether that is being successful as a parent, as a friend, as a partner, as a business owner. If our brain does not function optimally, nothing works. We make bad decisions.

Eating for Vibrant Health and Explosive Energy

I wrote the book, Eating for Vibrant Health and Explosive Energy to give my clients ideas on what is better to avoid when eating.

My starting place is getting my clients to commit and seeing what they want to accomplish with the whole process. Nutrition is just an aspect of that and to start with it usually doesn’t work with most people.

You have to choose a method that works for you. That allows you to eat the foods that you love but that also love you back.

Do Your Best With What You Have Now

Whatever you’re working at —do the best you can. If it’s cleaning toilets, be a good toilet cleaner. There’s no shame in starting low and working your way up. The richest people have started sweeping floors. When you have the money, use it wisely.
